Today's Postcard from Doulaland:
It's been a challenging year for me - ten people who mattered to me passed away in 2017 and immediate
family members were hospitalized in December. I've had to doula myself frequently this year - actually pretend I was my own client - and say what I would say to that person.
"Rest."
"Prioritize your sleep."
"Recognize your emotions are raw and give them time to settle."
"Don't overcommit."
Many of my early 2018 plans were set aside EXCEPT for my birth doula trainings! They give me energy, purpose, and contribute to the world by helping all kinds of people to have better births. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to contribute to your life - and hopefully to your friends and colleagues in 2018
too!
