Dear Ones,
I remember the moment I was inspired to turn Doulaing the Doula into a business that would serve other people and create opportunities that didn’t currently exist for doulas. The last two years I have been laboring to give it away. Yes! To give
away my knowledge, to give away what I've learned, and to create jobs and opportunities for people to grow our profession and grow personally.
Now we're on the threshold of me letting go of control over this vision. I have had a small team for quite a while. But now we've got coordinators and directors, all of the DTD supplies are moving out of my basement and into somebody else’s, and I've outsourced our social media. The new website and our vision for the future
should be debuting any day now. You'll see me doing Facebook Lives to launch and get people interested in what we have to offer.
I think one of the things I'm most proud of is that we've got lots to offer doulas who are already trained and certified by other people organizations. We want to be your education destination. We want to help you to develop as a doula. We don't duplicate what other organizations do. We want to help your career
grow and give you options over the years. We want to give doulas tools to develop stronger communities and connections.
It isn’t just what we want to do but the way we want to do it. We’ve been working to build capacity to sit with trauma and heal it because we know that's the path forward. We want doulas who want to develop coalitions with others who are not like them but see unity as the answer to decolonization and oppression. We have to free ourselves at the
same time that we free others.
I’ve been pushing my body in order to get this done and I’m looking forward to more rest in my future.
I hope you enjoy what I’m bringing to our doula world. You are the ones who inspired me and I’m grateful to have something to return to you.
Warmly,
