How is Doulaing The Doula doing as an organization?

When you invest in doula training and certification, you want to make sure the institution is built on a firm foundation and will be around to support you in the future. You can be confident recommending us to others. I'm thrilled to report the following:

We’ve trained almost two hundred people in the last two years!
2021 had twelve doula trainings, including six online - typical is eight.
Online trainings included people from 15 US states.
No difference in registrations before and after leaving DONA! (I worried about that)
Participants represent a variety of incomes, immigrant status, religious beliefs, body types and abilities, racialized ethnic groups, sexualities and gender identities
Created a certification program that includes a year of mentoring from an experienced doula who is there to coach you!
Crafted a 21 meeting curriculum for our certification program designed to increase doula success and satisfaction
Created a new income source for experienced doulas
Created “provisional certification” to help our doula trainees in our certification program to be admitted as “certified doulas” into hospital birth centers
Started our first two certification coach groups – even with doulas being excluded from most hospitals

Created a new 300 page training manual and curriculum that integrates typical doula curriculum with:

Trauma Informed Care
Implicit Bias In Doula Care
Empowerment and Advocacy Communication Strategies
Doula’s Role In Achieving Equity In Birth Outcomes
Doula Self Care and Mental Health
Postpartum Mental Health
Hormonal Changes In The Supportive Parent
Birth Anthropology
Communicating Effectively With Medical Professionals
Working With The Laboring Brain
How Doula Support Expands the Capacity for Parental Self Efficacy and Sensitive Caregiving

Considering all the challenges the doula world and small businesses have faced in the last few years, I'm excited and thrilled about our past success! Our future is looking pretty bright too! More announcements and growth to come!
