As many of you know, I have a genetic disorder called EDSh, which is a chronic pain disorder (among other things). I've amazed myself that I've been able to pull together the program in six months. But I slept a lot and only did this (just ask my family). I had great help with my project manager, Katy Sticha, and our new Certification Coordinator, LeKecia Lovett. 

I'm not an administrator or a traditionalist. I'm a visionary, an entrepreneur like my dad and granddad, an educator and a research scientist. I created this program, I figured out how it ought to work, but actually making it work - that's takes different talent and a great team.  

Now it's my turn to let go, and let our team discover how to make it work best. It's no longer just me training doulas. It's now a whole group of people nurturing those doulas and helping them plant roots and bloom in their communities. 

I have long range plans. I'd love to help our DTD Doulas negotiate for privileges in hospitals; so we're not separated from our clients having cesarean births. I want to influence medical systems to make birth better, and that's something most of us share. 

Just by connecting you in close communities, and creating the norm for doulas to work cooperatively, we could achieve a lot. When we are apart and isolated we underestimate our own power.
